The University of Tromsø is the northernmost university in the world, it offers more than 100 study programmes and detains a position of world excellence in various scientific areas. I worked in the area of identity management, more specifically with integration, consolidation and publishing of identities for authentication and other purposes. For all practical purposes, I did a lot of server maintenance, programming/integration and some casework. Technologically, Python, PostgreSQL, PHP, Linux, LDAP, RHEL and SVN were part of my work day. The project methodology was ad-hoc oriented, where small teams were created when there was a bigger task at hand. |

During my stay, I developed various intranet applications and participated actively in the analysis and planning of projects with great impact in the areas of authentication, authorization and bank management. My technological envolvement was primarily with Oracle DB, PL/SQL, WebSphere and Java. Projects were planned top down and had a rigid structure with plenty of documentation. |
