The Norwegian Centre for ICT in Education Tromsø, Norway
Senior software engineer / IT architect
The Norwegian Centre for ICT in Education is an executive agency for the Ministry of Education and Research, which objective is to bring together actors and resources and to facilitate cooperation on ICT in and for the education sector. I work primarily with enterprise search, web and integration. The technologies involed are among others Solr/Lucene, Drupal, PHP and AtomPub.

 

2007-2011

University of Tromsø Tromsø, Norway
Head engineer

The University of Tromsø is the northernmost university in the world, it offers more than 100 study programmes and detains a position of world excellence in various scientific areas. I worked in the area of identity management, more specifically with integration, consolidation and publishing of identities for authentication and other purposes. For all practical purposes, I did a lot of server maintenance, programming/integration and some casework. Technologically, Python, PostgreSQL, PHP, Linux, LDAP, RHEL and SVN were part of my work day. The project methodology was ad-hoc oriented, where small teams were created when there was a bigger task at hand.

 

2005-2007 Finibanco SA Oporto, Portugal
Senior programmer
Finibanco SA is a portuguese bank with more than 100 branches throughout Portugal, and employs more than a 1000 people. I started my carrer as an inturn, and ended up as a senior programmer. During my stay, I developed various intranet applications and participated actively in the analysis and planning of projects with great impact in the areas of authentication, authorization and bank management. My technological envolvement was primarily with Oracle DB, PL/SQL, WebSphere and Java. Projects were planned top down and had a rigid structure with plenty of documentation.

 

2003-2005

Searasoft Oporto, Portugal
Freelance web programmer
Searasoft is a Portuguese company developing web solutions. I developed various websites while working for this company. The technologies involved were PHP and MySQL. Procjects were based upon virtual teams working with short iterations and small tasks.

 

1998 Statoil Nordkjosbotn, Norway
Informatics consultant
Statoil is a Norwegian company in the oil business. I developed a shift management application for a local gas station.

 

1997

Storebrand Oslo/Tromsø/Ålesund, Norway
Information system consultant
Storebrand is a Norwegian company in the areas of insurance, banking and capitals. I was hired to develop an application that ended up being used nationwide by the car insurance division. Also, I hosted hands on courses on the developed solution.

The University of Minho is a very renown public university in Portugal, maybe especially within my area. My final average mark was of 17 out of 20, or simply A. I finished best in class and received various academic prizes.

  • I have sat on the board in a local sportsclub and a big regional commercial fair on a volunteer basis
